T5+lt1=ok??

Alright I'm getting ready to drop in the LT1 and the T-5 is only rated @ like 265lbs of TQ and the LT1 has like 325 or so... Other people have the T-5 LT1 combo but do their trannies have 125k on them? I know i should get the T56 but i dont have 1k or 1500 right now, plus i would rather throw that 1500 into my engine or existing tranny if it will work for me, if i rebuilt my tranny with stronger parts whats the most TQ you guyz think it could handle, What do you think it can handle right now? Should i rebuild the Tranny before the install? What should i do? Thanks
Chris

I would run it tell it goes on you if money is short, mine lasted a few years. Also when it does go you could install the new G-Force tranny parts if you still want to use your T-5, the manufacture says it can handle up to 600 HP.

You could do a little bit of prep work like a stronger clutch, and a transmission refreshment - but I think you'll be ok as long as you don't give it all you got 100% of the time. Tone down your day to day driving and I think the T-5 should be able to handle the fun moments just fine.

You can make it last if you do not power shift and or run slicks. Any serious shock or loading on it and it will gernade. It was only desinged to handle 300lb ft and your LT1 will be making more than that. If you break your tires loose a lot than it will be okay but serious traction off the line and you can kiss it goodbye.

yea i practice not spinning the tires and getting as much traction as possible during a race, but yea i kno it cant handle much power, and i am going to make more power with my engine so i will need a need tranny or that rebuild eventually, b4 i start modding, And that is why i am wondering how much this G-Force kit is, does it come with a clutch or what does it include? just tranny parts? and yea i kno im getting a new clutch soon, unless this G-Force thing comes with one... thanks!

Alright i just did some searches on the G-Force T-5 and i found that you just have to buy the G-Force Tranny and there is no rebuild kit, they do it and they give it back or you buy a new one, is this true? If so that is not what i am looking for so i hope i am wrong 600 HP is alot and my goal is around 500-550...eventually thanks

They sell the kit too. . .Giving it to them is one option, Or they sell trans already complete.

I think if you're just buying the kit to install yourself, it's around 1 grand.

I bought the whole trans from them with the kit installed by them with a Pro-5.0 shifter.

As mentioned above, do a search. You'll see my name in those posts too. All the info you need is there.

like they said, T-5 will be fine behind an LT1 even if you do race it, just no powershifting. I've cut 2.0 60's on street tires with a LT1/4, Centerforce Dual Friction, and stock T-5 and I've raced the hell out of it. I've been very impressed with the transmission. I'm putting new synchros in it over Christmas just to freshen it up a little bit.
