slp posi??

Does slp still make posi?? im wishing to go to 3.73 or 3.42 soon and need the posi to make the rear a 3 series carrier...

What all cars should i be on the look out that carried 3.42?? all 6cyls came with 3.42 i believe

what other years make and models came with a rear end thatll bolt up to a 91 rs

s10s? pre 82 camaros and fire birds?

EDIT:

http://www.tnamotorsports.com/id250.htm

that is correct??? sorry i just found it heh. is that the best deal around?? 189 for gears and 120 for the posi??

has anyone found better deals than that??

Does slp still make posi??
No. In fact they never did.

What they did, was to take the stock ones out of Z28s that they were turning into SSs, and resell them. There are threfore a limited number of them in existence; and since they're not doing that conversion any more, once they're gone, they're gone forever.

Call SLP and ask them if they still have them. I don't think anybody from SLP regularly reads these posts so posting that stuff here is just about useless.

I don't know about "all" 6-cyl cars having 3.42s; but some at least did.

If you want to use the SLP posi and not have to buy axles, you need a 90-92 F-body rear. No other will work. If you don't mind buying $250 worth of axles, you can use any 82-89 rear. If you don't mind giving your car the stupid "skateboard" effect, or if you replace the wheels with oones that have the correct offset for it, you can use a 93-up F-body rear.

You can get gears from dozens of places for about $189. The SLP posi is $99. So I'd say $189 for gears and $120 for the $99 posi, the very same SLP take-off unit by SLP's part #, isn't a particularly good deal at all (assuming SLP still has any of them).

heh good thing i have a 91 rs.....itll work

where can i look to get the speedo gears??? which ones do i need? lol.....im going with 3.73 for sure...altho slp was selling the gears for 240 something dollars, ill go with the 189 dollar gears lol.....

and should i get the rebuild/installation kit for the rear end or can i just use whats in it and not have to spend an additional 120 dollars....

anyone know a place where i can get gears cheaper than 240 bucks?

looking at all this, it doesnt seem to be a great idea ...120 for the kit, 100 for the posi, 240 for the gears.... thats 460 bucks right there not including the 200 for installation.... 660 dollars seems a bit steep.....not including the speedo gears....perhaps ill be looking around for a rear end to just swap in for about 300 total....and deal with 3.42's.

so basicly..
1.) do i need the install kit
2.) anyone know where i can get cheaper gears
3. what speedo gears do i need
4.)where can i get them

ok i called around and checked on WHO would install the gears, and what they would charge.....ONE single lone place does it....and charges 350 dollars to install it, and *I* must supply ALL parts needed.......

you don't need a 3 series carrier to change the ratio. there are gear sets made to fit either carrier. so if you already have everything you want except the ratio there's no need to change anything.

i got my Master install kit from National Drivetrain for 91 dollars shipped. the maste rinstall kit is basicly a rear end rebuild kit minus axel bearings. Is that what you are talkign about?

Anyones install kit will work for any posi being installed, because it has nothing to do with the carrier type, or the axle spline counts, its only bearings, shims, pinion nut, crush sleeve, ring bolts.....gear paint....etc.
