true or false?
Sup 3rd genners... got a quick true or false question....
1990-1996 S-10 blazers came with 3.73 gears and can be used on 3rd gen f-body cars.
has anyone ever heard of something similar to that?

Note that the axle will not bolt up though. S10's/Blazers are rear leaf springs, and our cars are coil. Therefore the axles will have different spring seats. However, the gearsets will swap fine.

I know this is a little off the subject, but not too much.
What is the difference between the 7.5 and the 7.62? I know the obvious difference
. What I am wondering is that in catalogs they advertise some parts for 7.5/7.62... Will they interchange? And were 7.62s ever put in 3rd Gens? Thanks...

From what I understand there is no difference. GM just changed the labeling to make the depiciton more accurate. Therefore 7.5 IS 7.65

So they are the same, the parts will interchange so long as spline count and bearing size all matches...Thanks...
Obviously an S-10 won't go into a 3rd Gen without more work than it would be worth...

Yes, some S-10s did come with 3.73s from the factory. Look for a 4 cylinder or small 6 cylinder 4x4. These are the most likely candidates.
Not all 7.5/7.625" 10 bolt parts interchange with ease. Early rears that use 26 spline axels won't accept 28 spline units because the carrier bores are too narrow. I hogged mine out with a boring bar and a brake hone and managed to get the 28 splines to fit, but you would have to take the carrier out of the rear. There was still plenty of material left after the machining, and I polished the bores to prevent stress risers from forming.
