Ok i think the tranny is on its way out. The car has noticeable lag hen you get on the gas but the rpms are going up. it seems like the tranny is slipping. It also take forever for it to shift into gears. Does it sound like the tranny needs a rebuild. The guy who originally owned the car put in a GM rebuilt 305 less than 2 years ago but didn't rebuild the tranny, and the car has like 150K miles so it is due I would imagine.

hey, i see your from lowell.....im from dracut, small world

anyways if you mash the pedal and the car revs up but doesnt accelerate, then the trans is slipping for one reason or another.

first off check the fluid, and make sure its full, and that its not burnt up (if it is, it will look sh*tty and smell burnt)

there are alot of good tranny shops around here like lowell automatic, although they are expensive....sayball transmission on aiken street is good from what i hear too.

i have a few tranny's around, but i dont think i have any 700r4's

Jesus and even more aggressive cam. You are completely nuts Hey if I do need to rebuild the tranny do you think I should go with one of the complete overhaul kits from summit like the Hughes Performance or the B&M Transkit?

Go to http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...ct&productid=5 if you want to do this right the first time.

Ok what about the options on the bottom do I need any of those or are they for really hi horsepower applications? I only have a 305 TPI and I don't plan on going to crazy with the motor maybe 300hp.

I would add the GM HD sunshell. You only replace the rear planet if it is burnt up or the pinions or the gears have are galled. The reverse/input needs to be replaced if the band is really burnt, or if the surface where the band rides is dished, it has to be flat.

OK the tranny dipstick says to add 1 pint. So I think I am going to put some Lucas in it and see how it is.
