I don't recommend the use of a solid trans mount, even if you're using solid motor mounts. It can cause your trans tailshaft housing to crack. Get a polyurethane one.

it would be really easy to make your own. it is a very simple piece.
just mill out a block of steel and have it tapped for the factory hardware.
I just replaced my broken factory one with the Prothane poly one I got from Spohn and it works awesome.

Hotchkiss sells one. I don't see why the one from moroso and others wouldn't work. The only difference that I can tell between them and the camaro ones is they have a bolt hole instead of a stud. Just use a bolt instead of a nut. That's what I'm gonna do.

I have seen TH350 transmissions blow the bell housing area when running all three mounts solid, and I have heard about others this has happened to. The reason is the bell housing area starts to flex, and if there is no give anywhere else, it breaks. If it does break it will happen on the 2-3 WOT shift. The last one I saw break, closed down the track for about 35 minutes.

I heard you shouldn't run a solid tranny mount w/out solin engine mounts... but I dunno
Jegs/Summit has the 82-92 solid ones.

i have heard the same thing..the reason is...that if your tranny mount cant flex...the the stress would be transferred to the motor mounts....and its not fun to break those either..lol

Install it or make one, then be sure to post back here when you crack your tail shaft. You must be hanging around with all those guys that go in circles slingin mud...heck weld the spider gears so you got a posi for cheap too-you've probably heard stories about those but they worked right?. I'm willing to bet you that you've heard more horror stories about a solid tranny mount than positive, spend the $20-30 bucks once for a urethane tranny mount and be done. Just think of the money you'll have invested once you rip this tranny apart. There's a reason those roundy round cars are always beat to chit and constantly getting worked on Mon-Fri. afternoon...something to think about while you try to argue with me and everybody else that knows better. Your not a farmer or OTD by chance are you?

I got outta the saddle a long time ago, as with anything we're all here to help and hate to see guys waste their time and money. Experience is one thing and all we're doing is trying to help, but hey it's your time and your money, wanna buy a tranny from me for in the future?

lol...sorry about that man..i got a lil heated on ya..shouldn't have checked the post when i was in a bad mood...
i have seen all the arguments for and against solid mounts...ive been researching the prothane mount that was mentioned and it seems to hold strong for everyone so i may try that before resorting to the solid...
this is a great site to act as a resource for info on how to do things right.....
im not too big to admit when i was possibly wrong or bull headed
thanks for your advice...ill let ya know what i decide to go with

When your talking to experienced-not the local mom and pop shop tranny rebuilder but the guys that build these trannies for high hp and extreme conditions I'm sure all will have plenty of stories about fragged tailshafts due to a solid mount weather the engine had solid, rubber, or poly mounts. Regardless of engine mounts 1 thing has always been constent- never use a solid tranny mount. When it comes down to it we will always do what we want to our cars be it right or wrong since in the end the ultimate result will tell us if it was worth it or not. Good luck with whatever route you choose....but we warned ya
