T56 pedal assembly?
I have a question about swapping from automatic to T56. I would be receiving the pedal assembly, brake and clutch pedal, hydraulic unit, from a 4th gen, would I be able to put this in my 3rd gen and would the brake pedal work with the brake booster? What if I obtained a 3rd gen pedal assembly, could this work with the 4th generation hydraulic clutch? Thanks

it is my understanding that either assembley will work, but you will have to use the correct hydraulics for the application t5/t56! You will have to cut off the gas pedal off the 4th gen assembly l believe.

You are correct.
3rd gen pedals from '84 up (hydraulic clutch cars) will bolt right in and hook up to the LT1-style hydros. 4th gen pedals will bolt in and work after you cut off the gas pedal, the brake booster rod is the same.

Yeah, I scrounged a set of 3rd gen pedals from a junkyard, because I didn't want the hassle of modifying the 4th gen pedals. The 3rd gen ones worked just fine. The install is a bit of a pain because you have to pull the brake booster foreward, or remove it, which is what I did because I needed room to cut the hole in the firewall for the clutch rod anyway.

I put some 4th gen Auto pedals in my car when I had the Auto and it went in smooth.
I've got 4th gen T56 pedals now and they went in fine as well.
I used the gas pedals that came with each assembly.

I never said the gas pedal wouldn't work. It just seems that it's standard practice to remove the gas pedal and just use the factory stand-alone pedal already in your car. Like I said, I used 3rd gen pedals, so I don't really know much about the 4th gen units other than what I've read, and all the info on the net says to cut off the gas pedal.
If it was a simple bolt in deal you should post about how you did it so that others can benefit from your experience.

It's really a no brainer to get it in. Just remove the gas pedal from the assembly get it over the steering column and then put the gas pedal back on.

And the factory 3rd gen cable works just fine? Or did you use one from an LT1 car?
