kickdown cable for carbed & 700r4?

ive a bored 30 over 305 carbed engine with a 700r4, wish I had put the kickdown cable onto the trans before I lowered the whole thing in, to late tho-. The trans has a B&M shift kit in it but ITS a bear to try and hook the kickdown onto the little hook coming out of the trans, just slightly above the trans pan. Im at wits end and do Ineed the kick down cable and will it hurt without it? If its a matter of manual shifting I dont mind but dont wish to destroy a perfectly good 700r4.

You must use the TV cable. Using the trans without one will result in shifts without proper presure to the clutches & bands when applied, and they will wear / burn prematurely.

Unhook the TV cable at the carb. Pull up gently on the J-hook until you can see it. Pull the cable out of the cable housing down at the trans., and slip it over the J-hook. Then put the housing back in and retain it w/ the bolt. I agree, the 700 can be tough to access on the right side, but ya gotta do it, and it's easier the 2nd time.

Yeah it's rather easy, simple hook it in and push it up in the hole and bolt the bracket up.
