6-Speed Swap into 89 T/A from Automatic
I got a T-56 from an 03 ZO6 lined up for 500, but i want to know about swapping it. I got these instuctions from third gen resource on how to change from an auto to a T-5, it says you can also apply them to a T-56. But from what i understand it isnt the same, such as you have to cut out the tunel, and stuff like that, anyone who has done this swap, can i have some more detailed info on the swap, before i go out and buy this tranny.
Do NOT buy that tranny if it is from a vette. They use a completely different style of tranny. It mounts at the back of the car near the differential instead of up by the engine. You need a T56 out of a 93-97 f body. If you get one of these it will be similar to installing a t5, but there are tech articles out there for installing the t56 too.

He's 100% correct. The Vette T56 is meant to be part of a transaxel, and is totally different from the '93-'97 F-body T56. Check out www.skulte.com for a great set of directions on the T56 swap.
