I have a nice 700R4 that has been completely beefed up.
It has transgo kit, all new bands, Corvette Servo and a 2500 Vigilante Converter. 40k on the tranny.
However like all of us I would like to have a 5 speed.
The only thing keeping me from the swap is that I am dropping in a ZZ4 and I wonder if the combo of Auto / ZZ4 will be quicker in the quarter than the 5 speed. I only drive the car twice a month and race it monthly.
Let me know what you think. I run a stock L98 now with the mods in my sig.
Thanks

I think the general consensus is that the auto is better for 1/4 mile stuff. Some things ive heard are its more consistant, and it eliminates or atleast greatly reduces driver error. There are tons of posts on auto vs manual for various applications.

With pretty much the same mods to the car and similiar weight, an Auto with a stall is usually .5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile.
Personally, I'd go with a manual since they are generally more fun to drive.

In my opinion, If you only drive it twice a month and race it monthly (not really sure how often that is), then you should stick with the auto. I'm not positive on this and i'm sure I will get reamed for saying it, but I don't believe that a stock T-5 tranny is as strong as a modified 700R4. Just a thought...
