3-2 control valve in Transgo kit

I'm installing the 3-2 valve and spring(large valve white spring) that transgo suggests in their kit but it seems to be a little tight. Should this valve fit a little tight or should it move freely?

Use the old valve to get the high spots out of the bore. Put the valve in the bore and put a screw driver in the slots, and use a small hammer and tap on the thinner parts of the spool valve, this will knock out the high spots and the new valve should go in freely. If it does not go in & out freely, take a small file (no sandpaper) and remove any high spots on the new valve. Let me know how it turns out?

Pro built, I know you mentioned no sandpaper. Is this because it will scratch up the surface of the vavle?

No, it will take off the sharp edges that the valve must have to push anything out of the way, when rounded it will go over any impurities (metal, dirt) and seize.

Pro Built, I tried everything you mentioned and it loosed up a little but still won't go all the way in. How far should the valve be able to go into the bore? If I remove the spring and push the valve all the way in it gets stuck(Thats with the end of the valve hitting the bottom of the bore).

I got it in and its slides in and out freely. I just used the file like Pro built said and eventually it went in with no problems. Thanks for the advice.
