Hahaha, you poor guy, just twist your shifter **** off, then take off the shifter plate torx screws. If you mean the lower boot, well some of those bolts are hiddent under the carpet sometimes, easier to remove the console to get to them.

You should just twist counter clockwise and it should come off. Good Luck

maybe it striped out a long time ago and somone use liquid nails on it. i did this once when my jeep got stripped, figured once it hardened it would just form new threads on the ****, tryed t take it off a week later with a pipewrench. stuck like a .... just real stuck, man that stuff kicks ***.

I think I figured it out. Here's what it looks like. Sorry that the pic doesn't really show the threads inside it.

The threads are recessed into the **** and you cannot see them. I also had a helluvatime getting my **** off. It felt like it was glued on and I was afraid to damage it. Just give her hell and she will eventually come off. Try a strap wrench or a large pair of channel locks.

They're secured with a lock-tight-like product. So just keep trying, counter-clockwise, and you'll break it lose. No worries, nothing else will break.

i'am trying to get the handle off at the bottom where it connects to the shaft that fits in the base plate that bolts to the tranny all it does is twist a little bit and comes right back to the same place i hope some one knows how it comes off.

It does not come off there!! It is permanately attached with an elastomeric compound. Some of the early 80's you could separate, mid 80's on are permanently attached there!

This is correct. Stop before you damage it!!! The **** is the only thing that comes apart from the stock shifter assembly. Most aftermarket ones have a removable shaft but not the stock set-up. It is very weak and cannot take any twisting before it is permantly damaged. Just take the whole shifter out and you will see what I mean. I do not have a pic here to show you.

Here is a little side by side comparison pic. You can see how an aftermarket shifter like my Pro 5.0 has a removable handle. You can see how the stock shifter is one piece. You can also see what it looks like with the **** off.
