Driveshafts
I tried to search but was not sucessful find the answer. I need to find a on-line address where I can find an LS-1 driveshaft used. I think it was a site that connected a few salvage yards together to locate parts in your specific geographic location. Of cousre I want a new/used LS-1 driveshaft, but I want to use this site to look for parts on my wifes car. Any ideas???
Thanks

I just noticed you're from Houston--shoot, man, head to North Shepard Road. There must be 20 bone yards along there, and they're all hooked to a hot line (which spiders out well beyond N. Shepard Rd). If the yard you're inquiring at doesn't have your part, they'll find it for you. Come to think of it, Saul's Espana (on Airline, if I remember correctly) has a 1LE shaft in their driveshaft rack out back. I was told they normally went for $45-50.

I run the 1LE shaft, and though some of the guys will no doubt disagree, I doubt that there's a lot of practical difference.

LS-1 driveshaft has a larger diameter than the 1LE shaft. Also, the LS-1 has a vibration damper on the front yoke, whereas the 1LE does not. IMO, the LS-1 is a better shaft.

I don't have any experience with the LS1, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. That said, I've always wondered why this shaft had a vibration dampener--if the shaft is properly balanced, why the need? My 1LE shaft demonstrates no sign of vibration at high speed without a dampener. So what gives?

The 1LE you have.. is it steel or aluminum?? How do I confirm it is a 1LE DS while at the bone yard?? The LT-1's are aluminum with the damper right??

The 1LE is alum, so there will be no rust, except on the slip yoke and the U-joints. The part number is on a label fixed to the tail of the shaft, 10085375.

I have one question on the 10085375 driveshaft... Has anybody ordered one of these through GMPartsDirect.com?? And for those who have, does it come with u-joints and yoke, ready to be put in the car??

Cool... Actually, I found an LS1 shaft at a local yard here for $150, in real good shape... actually cured my vibration problem (the tired 250+K mile steel shaft served me well though)...
