Adjust pivot ball/bleed slave or.......
When i rebuilt my tranny i used my buddies bellhousing becasue it was cleaner (nothing wrong with mine)...he had a 86 t-5 wereas mine is a WC....i dont think that matters though...
When i pulled the tranny it worked problem free, and now the clutch wont fully engage as to shift from neutral into gear while the motor is running...If its off then itll go into gear and i can drive it, but i have to "slide" it into first when rolling at 5 mph...when i come to a stop with the clutch fully depressed and the brakes off the car will creep forward...There is also a good inch of play on the top of the pedal before its starts building pressure...
At first i thought that maybe i put the throwout bearing in backwards, but i talked to a few tranny guys and they all said "itll go in either way, but the wrong way will tear up the pressure plate"....
So now im thinking either the pivot ball on his bellhousing wasnt adjusted the same as mine becasue the clutch worked perfect before this..or the CF throwout bearing is in backwards (contrary to what 3 reputable guys told me)....theyu all said it would be VERY noisy and as soon as i started the motor id no it was wrong..
So again
I used a non WC bellhousing on a WC tranny
i used a T/O bearing that worked in a non WC tranny
Maybe his pivot ball wasnt adjusted like mine...and how do u adjust that?..
im sure i can tell yall more about it if specific questions are asked..
Thanks alot guys
Rob

I don't think there is a difference between the WC and non WC bellhousings. I also don't think there is any adjustment in the stock pivot ball. I don't think the T/O bearing was installed backwards, just improperly. I'd remove the trans and check the way the bearing is installed.

I guess I should have stated the top way is correct. Look closely at the fork tangs and you'll see the difference. On the top pic the tangs are on the outside of the bearing and on the bottom their in the middle in the groove.

I know this is 13 years old, but I found it while looking for other info, and I "think" there is some wrong info. The little tangs on the fork do NOT go on the outside of the throwout bearing. The tangs go INSIDE.
...just in case someone finds this later.
