Stock Tail Housing For T-56
Anyone know where i can get a stock tail housing for a T-56? I have one that has been converted (early JTR style) to the Camaro or early Firebird cable style speedo drive. I'm not terribly cheap, but I'd like to not pay out the *** for one. I've looke on ebay with little luck. I'd be willing to trade the one I've got for the right one even.

i would put up a classified add saying what it is, and that you're willing to swap for a standard VSS tailshaft
or put it on ebay.
the one you have is worth some $$$

I have one I'd be willing to trade for that.
Send me a pic, or at least e-mail or PM me, maybe we can do a deal.

you can buy tail shafts that make the t56 a cable driven speedo, how much do they go for new and also used. Im goin to do a t56 swap very soon, so i need some options for what to do with my 85 mechanical speedo .

the company "Jags That Run" used to modify stock T56 tailshafts to run a speedo cable. they have stopped doing that as far as i know.
thats what makes what he has a rather rare piece.

They do still list it on their website, but it's $300. They show it all nice looking on their website, but they still use JB Weld to seal it all up, so it soesn't come out looking super nice. It works, it really works good, it just has a little ugly around the speedo drive. I have a very hard time brining myself to even think about doing business with JTR after my last experience. This tranny used to reside in my brother's car and then in my 82 T/A, so it's been around.

I have had a couple people contact me and offer to trade for my housing, that's great. The problem I'm running into is that all of those guys have 96 tranny's and that was a split year. So, I really need to track down a 93-95 tailshaft housing. Graham's wants a freakin' fortune for one and I'm running out of options. Any ideas?

I got to looking at the housing that I have, and it says right on it 1996. I also now think that my tranny is at least a 94 because it has the skip-shift solenoid in it, and I've heard roumor that the 93 didn't. I'm very hopeful that I get lucky and your housing is the right one.
