Steel Driveshaft is supposed to be rust colored, right?

The other night when my friend was glancing at my I-Pipe on my Formula, he noticed that my driveshaft was light colored, pretty much a white color.

I assumed I had a steel shaft, but I am guessing it's aluminum now. The underbody of the car is rusting since it was in a salted environment.

mine is rusted color.

Aluminum does turn a whitish when aged and exposed to salt.

its kinda sad that you even feel the need to type that second sentance... you would think that by the time you're old enough to be working on cars, you would have figured that out.

Don't have to work on cars to know that.

Ever play with magnest as a kid? I did. Made an electro-magnet from a 12v car battery, 12gauge insulated wire, and a 1" x 1foot iron pipe as a kid.

Transformers are easy to make too. You can step up/down the voltage if you want.

You'd also think that by the time people were old enough to drive, they could compile a sentence in proper english, but half of the people on here fail in that department.

Ede just saved someone asking the question of "What would a magnt prove? That it's metal?"

iron, nickel, cobalt

If the metal is one of these or has a mixture of this then it can be magnetic

I'll get the magnet and test it.
I am about to paint the wheels black since no one likes the gold, and I am not too fond of it either.

Well, the shaft is aluminum.
The back wheels are now black and the car looks hot. Ran out of daylight and paint stripper so I'll do the fronts tomorrow or Sunday.
