Is this swap possible? I know the 4l60e is ecm controlled, just a thought though.

The trans are almost exactly the same. You would need to add some sort of computer to make the trans shift thou.

He could get by with just putting in a VSS buffer box and using his ECM.

Take the yellow and purple wire from the VSS and run them to pin D4 & E4 of connector C100 and then to the buffer box. There is only one wire going from the buffer box to the ECM and that is at pin "A10" like this picture.

It doesn't control the transmission, it is for the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) in the 4L60E transmission.

You may be able to get a 4'th gen PCM and use LT1 edit and program it just to control the trans. The stand alone 4l60e controlers are really expensive.

Does this help...

Also...with the right truck PCM, it's possible to convert the PCM to batch fire a TPI and control a 4l60E w/ added wiring of course.

Re: 700r4 to 4l60e swap?

Why change from the 700-4R. Good tranny & no messing with electronics and very strong.
I believe that there a few companies that make a controller/computer for the 4L60E or 4L80E.
