TV cable adjustment...now bad
ok so i was reading a post about the TV cable and if the shifts r "loose" to adjust the cable. so i looked in my haynes manual and it sed the same thing. so i did it, i did word for word what the book says (depress and hold metal tap and move the cable housing into slider until it stop against collar. release tab) then it says, for my carb model, to open the throttle all the way and the cable will ratchet through the slider...well i did that but didn't notice any noise from it ratcheting. ok so that all sed...
i took it for a ride up the road and while lightly accelerating it jerks forward from 1st to 2nd and doesn't shift until 3k, and it doesn't seem like it hits OD while going up even the smallest of hills. like it just doesn't seem right . also when i'm on level ground cruising, it's at 1k rpm and when i hit the gas it goes to 2 k then jerks to accelerate. did i really mess something up here to did i do the adjustment wrong??? i was also thinking that MAYBE the tranny had to relearn, but i'm don't think we have cars like that, or do we?
please HELP, BTW 84 TA L69 700-R4

It sounds like you did the adjustment correctly.
Did the cable extend out some after you adjusted it and just didn't click? Does the cable stay where the adjustment left it?
I did this adjustment because my car was shifting into 2nd at WOT at 3k. After the adjustment, it now shifts at 4.5k like I expect. I only got one click when I adjusted it. Everyone else seems to get a lot of clicks.
Did you try a search to read what happened to other people? Remember to try searching for tranny and transmission. I had trouble because I was looking for transmission posts.
I don't believe the tranny needs to relearn anything.
