What are the diferent options for a shifter? 700r4-> th350

 

Most aftermarket shifters come set-up to run either 3 or 4 speed automatics. Just a matter or installing or removing a pin is all.

Go to summit or Jegs online or a catalog is better IMO and look through to see what you like and if it's compatible.

 

Will any stock shifters (ie. 82) work? Just curious.

 

i would recommend the B&M Megashifter, fit quite nicely and I love having it. little bit of a pita if you have to make 3 or 5 point turns.

 

Yeah, your stock shifter will work. I used my stock shifter for half a whole season after I got rid of the 700 and installed the 350. I got used to being careful when shifting since it was my car. Some of my buddies would drive it in gambler races and hated it since they were all used to ratchet shifter. But mechanically it will hook right back up and be used.

 

So the stock 700r4 shifter will work for now? My shifter sucks but not having to buy a new one right now would let me allocate money to parts that I need more. How do you lock out the 4th gear then?

 

It just wont go into 1 if I recall. So OD with be 3rd gear, D with be second gear and 2 will be 1st gear. Very simple, hook it up and then double chekc for your self where stuff is at. P, R,N at still the same with the factory 4 speed shifter.

 

I have this exact same setup, swapped in a TH350, stock shifter just doesn't go into 1 anymore. Doesn't change the fact that the stock one sucks though, go for the Megashifter if you have the $$.

 

Do anyone have a photo or any information for using my stock shifter for a th350 swap? This is What I’m working with.



This is the bracket I have purchased, anyone know if this is the correct bracket?
