pro-built transgo kit

Well im almost done making a mess of everything, and I hope to *** I did it right because my tranny worked great before, just a little sluggish :P
anyone here ever installed this? the instructions were all setup for what i needed, anything I didnt need was crossed out, except I think im missing parts.. I dont have the plug and spacer and 2 springs for the accumulator
also for the tv valve it said "if blah blah is stamped with a #94 just install with tapered spring" which is exactly what I did (because it was stamped with a 94), but I just want to make sure i didnt need to add the shim or anything else in there as well

lastly how delicate are these parts?? heh...
the boost valve gave me quite a workout, my arm fell asleep twice on me, but I think I got it in there ok, hopefully its not designed to be able to go in wrong

The boost valve can be tricky. There is a step in the bore that looks like where the C-clip should go, but isn't. Double check that the C-clip is actually in a groove. Else the boost valve ends up in the pan when the engine is fired up

As for the TV valve, I'm not sure but it sounds like your instructions are a little different then when I did mine (ca. 3 years ago). I used the alum shim, the silver spacer (inside red spring), brown spring in end of new valve, and the tapered spring on end of valve. I too had the #94 plunger.

And put a drain plug in the pan too. Just be careful of location that it doesn't interfere with stuff under (above?) the pan once the pan is in place. You'll thank yourself later. It took me several pan drops before I finally put the drain in, well worth it.

As far as delicate, don't nick them.

Bob.

thanks for the reply
yeah the boost valve tryed to fool me but I had already read about some people firing theres out so i double checked

when i pulled my tv valve out it didnt really look much like the parts i get in the kit, i didnt have the removable bushing at the end (instructions say some dont) nor was there any springs at the end of it

pretty much just waiting to figure out what todo with the accumulator at this point

and yeah, i think ill add a plug to the pan, my driveway will appreciate it, had the front of the car on ramps when i took it off, hardly any fluid would drain out by leaving the rear bolts on and popping open the front, so like 3 quarts ended up in the driveway trying to get the full pan off carefully :P
and i did that yesterday afternoon and the tranny is still dripping fluid at a brisk pace, its insane

edit: totally misread the directions for the tv valve, thanks for making me double check that

alright im losing it
are the gaskets for the seperator plate supposed to be like completely different, i just got to looking at it today and I thought that was weird, if you put them together all kinds of stuff overlaps and what not
and if so which side gos to which side?!? or does it matter, and if it doesnt matter why are they different!!!
i thought it was gonna be easy and i was just gonna put both gaskets together and look thru the plate then i was like what the hell...

alright nevermind my ranting. its not actually covering up any holes that i could see, but when i put them together it just didnt seem right

Having just done a transgo kit. . . the two gaskets are different. If your using the kit with the video it will tell you how to identify which is which and also which side of the seperator plate they go on.

you should have 2 gaskets for the valve body, one goes under the plate on goes over it. you should be able to line the up pretty much and tell from looking which is which.

I assume you have the kit that tells you to block off certain passages in the plate. make sure you file the plate completelly flat after you hammer the block off plugs into it.

does your kit have the new accumulator springs? what about the new servo pin springs/ring?

The separator plate gaskets have stamped cut-outs of a V or a C. The V gasket is for the valvebody, the C gasket is for the case.

As far as the holes only need to have holes in the gaskets for each hole in the separator plate. And the gasket holes need to be large enough that they do not block any separator plate holes.

alright well i just finished and i have my fingers crossed nothing blows up :P
a couple last minute questions maybe you can clarify for me
when i did the band wiggle test i think i got about 1/16", and the driveshaft had no trouble being turned, 1 direction was harder then the other (like it said) but in one direction it did make a little bit of noise from somewhere
when i took it for a drive it was also kinda making that noise, a squeeky noise, but then again.... i think it was before i started this too, so im not sure..
also about how many quarts go in after this??

after i took her around for a little bit to make sure all the gears were shifting and what not, i can confirm its working pretty good.. its a very firm shift under wot and very fast, and light throttle is nearly what it used to be.. though all together it just feels much more responsive

Congrat's, sounds like it all worked out. I found driving a bit more fun after I did the TransGo kit. A worn U-joint can squeek.
