Hurst Pro Matic 2
I searched for endless hours and read most of the debate between Hurst and B&M. Most of it mentions the Mega Shifter vs V Matic 2, Quarter stick, Dual Gate, etc. I have not seen much on the Pro Matic 2. I noticed one person running it but not really enough info to make a decision. Anyone running this with a 700r4? I've got an 87 Iroc Z equiped with OD. I want a little more info on how it works and how difficult it would be to reuse the stock shifter cover. I don't mind doing a little chop, cut and rebuild and it states that it "provides your choice of mounting locations". The price is dectn and it "incorporates a backup light swith and neutral safety assembly". Anybody got anything for me?
Thanks for your time.

I HAVE A B+M 700R4
HEY MAN,
I HAVE A 1991 FORMULA 305 TBI. I HAVE A B=M SHIFTER WITH MY 700R4. I LOVE IT. IT WAS SO EASY TO INSTAL. I NEVER DID IT BEFORE. I DID HAVE TO REMOVE THE WHILE CENTER CONSOLE THOUGH. I BOUGHT SOME AUTOMOTIVE CARPET AND GLUED IT DOWN TO COVER THE HOLES. YOU CAN CUT THE SMALL CONSOLE THAT IT COMES WITH. THEN I ESED A STICKSHIFT SHIFTER BOOT TO COVER THE E BRAKE MECHANISM. ITS EASYER THAN YOU COULD EVER THINK. I ORDERED IT FROM SUMMIT AND IT COMES WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS IN DETAIL.

Paul, are you saying you removed the factory console?? All you needed to do was cut the factory console plate to get the old shift boot and shift indicator out, and you could've used the factory console. Did you buy the "Console Megashifter for 82-92 Camaro/Firebird", or the "Universal Megashifter"?
If you bought the Universal one, and kept your original factory console somewhere, you could probably contact B&M to find out what parts you need to turn your Megashifter into the console one. I think it's mainly just the length of the shifter stick.
(82-92 Camaros and 82-84 Firebirds don't need to cut the console top, but us 85-92 Firebirds do. I cut mine with a cutting tip on a soldering iron, but man, that plastic stunk!)
