Rear End

I have an 89 RS with a stock rear end (no posi) and I was wondering if I could just change the gears instead of getting a whole new rearend with posi? Would it help if I got a differential clutch kit?

be sort of pointless to get a clutch kit if you don't have anyplace to put it. yes you can change the gears without gettign a whole new rear end, agaihn it may be sort of pointless.

Why would it be pointless? I'm just trying to figure out an inexpensive way to go from one wheel peels to having posi and I thought putting posi gears in would be easier and cheaper than buying a whole rear end.

I bought a posi unit off of SLP for only $100.00. I was just going to change the gear and stay with the singla trac unit, but i found this deal and couldnt pass it up.

I thought about having my gears changed but theres just so much that can go wrong if it isnt done properly. To avoid whines and improper wear patterns you need to take it to someone who knows what their doing.

Instead I bought a rearend from a formula with a posi and a better gear ratio for $100 bucks and im just going to swap that in. Less work and less money.
