super t-10 + L98???
I have access to a freshly rebuilt super t-10 4 speed and was wondering what i would be getting my self into if i wanted to put this into my car (mind you i have already weighed out all the pros and cons im talking more about what im getting into trying to install it).
I have the 700-R4 in now so id have to do a full auto-manual swap anyways. What major problems could i run into? The guy im getting it from is pretty certain that the bellhousing will bolt up fine to my engine and that all i would need is the flywheel off of a t-5 car.
I am aware that i would also need a new driveshaft.

and if you are gonna do it, do it for something more than a Super T10. they are cool when you are doing a period-correct resto on a 2nd gen or an EARLY 3rd, but not on a car as new as yours. get a T56 or AT LEAST a WCT5

The BH will bolt to the motor, no problem.
Where you will have trouble, is with the clutch fork hitting the floor pan, if the BH you have isn't from a 82 T-10 V8 Camaro or Firebird. You won't be able to massage the floor pan right there, because it's right where your gas pedal goes.
You'll need the BH out of a 82 4-speed car, and the linkage and pedal assembly from that car; and some drive shaft work of course; and some sort of provision for the torque arm.
All in all, it's not an easy swap, unless you have a whole 82 T-10 car as a donor.

The reason i want to use the t-10 is im not worried about the no od and i just like the idea of a 4 speed. Also i can get the tranny bellhousing hydros clutch, all brand new/freshly rebuilt for 1000 dollars canadian and i need a new tranny cause mines shot anyways.
Rb83 thanks i thought there might be something like that to cause problems.

I asked what troubles im going to have putting it in and even mentioned that ive already weighed out the pro's and con's of this transmission. My car barely ever see's the highway so having overdrive is not much of an issue. Ive already decided not to do it though because of the difficulty i would have had.

porkyzilla, It really is not that hard. I did a t-5 swap years ago and that was before I ever worked in a shop. it only took a afternoon. besides putting in the pedals it was just like doing a clutch and flywheel job. the t-56 was not that differant. same thing but, I used the sophn t-56 torque arm which is more complicated (has to be adjusted) even that was not bad. if you can replace a clutch then 90% is easy going the hardest part of it all is cutting the firewall in the right spot.

Doug, not sure if you decided against the swap just on troubles with the clutch setup, but heres something to consider if you'd still like to do it, Lakewood offers a bellhousing for our cars, setup for the hyd clutch, if im not mistaken the T10 will bolt right up to it, allowing you to use a hydraulic clutch eliminating the linkage problem, and use spohns crossmember / torque arm to mount it up.
