2.8-5.0 T5 Manual Tranny Question

Right now Ive got a 2.8 V6 with the T5 5 Speed manual Transmission. I just got a good deal on a complete 305 5.0 TPI with Computer and all. People are probally just going to tell me to get a 350, but I wanna keep the 5 speed. I know I need a V8 Bellhousing and new clutch, but will the Transmission bolt up to the 5.0 ok? IF it wont the guy is selling the 700r4 with it. how hard would that be to swap into the manual car?

Thanks

well, the T5 will not work unless you mix and match your clutch set, as the splinage is different for V6 and V8's IIRC. also, i am told that the strengths vary slightly too, so although you love the manual, you might be better off with the 700R4 for now until you can afford the T56 swap. it is not a hard procedure, you will have to remove the clutch pedal and slave cylinder and all that business. it is up to you if you switch to the wider brake pedal, if you are gonna convert to a manual later, i would just leave the skinny brake pedal. you will also have to run the wiring for the lockup TC, unless you are gonna switch this out. i am not sure what this consists of, so hopefully someone else with more knowledge on this will chime in. you will also need to change your console when you install the new auto shifter to make it look right. to help with the manual withdrawls, you could install a shift kit and a ratchet shifter, that should help somewhat...lol...otherwise, that is about all i can think of, happy swapping...

You should be able to use the v6 clutch disc and make it work

nothing to be confused about, you will just have to use a V6 clutch disc with the V8 pressure plate and release bearing...
