turbo 350 or 700r4??? help
hey guys...i own a 85 trans am. its got a t5 standard in it that i pretty much hate the fact that i can't put slicks on the car without worrying whether or not my trans is gonna go home in one piece. i want to run brackets with the car and i aint about to do it with a t5. i was wondering whether i should go with a 700r4 or a turbo 350. which trans is stronger in general? also...does anyone make trans brake valve bodies for the 700r4? thanks for the help guys. -TEAL-

The th350 is stronger stock, but anything can be built to handle all the power you could ever make. My choice for the perfect all around auto tranny is the 200-4r.

If the car will be street driven my opinion is a 700-r-4. My auto has performed well with thousands of passes and many miles.

another vote for the 700r-4, if its properly built you can/will have the best of both worlds....dragstrip and cruising.
I wouldnt worry about street driven, I would worry about highway driven. If you drive 30 miles or more a day on the highway, a th350 will eat you alive in gas. But if you are building this car to cruise around town and take to the dragstrip, a th350 is a good choice. Just dont plan on going on long drives, at least not without a checkbook.
