Lateral Bar Mount?

I had my car at the transmission shop to get all of the seals replaced and the guy told me that my Lateral Bar Mount was shot. Does anyone know what that is? I'm thinking it's another name for something else.

Anyways, he did a great job, but said he couldn't replace the lateral bar mount because he couldn't find it. He told me to look online. Help me with this question?

If you've got the legendary "fluid-filled" mount that some of the 6-cyl cars came with, it's only available at the dealer, and EXTREMELY expensive (and not always in stock). In that case I'd recommend getting the crossmember out of another one of these cars car with a regular mount, and doing away with the special weird one. The normal stuff bolts right in in place of the other, as an assembly.

He drew me a picture of where it was located. I still didn't know what it was called though. It looked like a long triangle piece of metal that was connected from the rear end to the transmission, but he drew a circle around the tip, where it connected to the side of the transmission. This is the part that he told me to replace. Does that make any sense?

the triangle part that he is referring to is the torque arm. more than likely the part that he circled was the torque arm mount that is on the side of the tranny. ( drivers side of tranny ) does it look somthing like this???............

That's it!! Right on point. Is that an expensive part and is it easy to install myself?

Tranny Mount

I posted the same topic, one of the pix you see is one that I posted. On my 86 Camaro 2.8 L. Be careful to get the right part. I went thru two that were not exactly the same. In my case, I need the entire metal piece (one on the left side of picture) along with the bushing. In my case the long bolt you see on the right hand side of picture goes thru to the tranny and requires the tranny/crossmember to be dropped. I only need the piece with the bushing (left) that simply bolts to the other piece (right). When I went to a junk yard, the guy told me in order to get what I needed he had to drop the tranny to get it. They did not speak real good english (live in TX) and I tried to explain I did not need the entire part. Well I left and let them do there thing, went back the next day, bought the piece, and it was slightly different. Then I got in an argument with the guy when I wanted my money back. He said they dropped the gas tank (for safety reasons) and torched the bolt to get it off. Finally I won, got my money back, and have since had no luck in finding what I need. The picture is of another one I bought which did not work (bolted up slighlty different) but I kept it and took a digital pic of it to hopefully get some leads. This one came off of a 1996 Camaro. If anyone has what I need for an 86 I'll trade ya!!! HA!!! :lala:
