700r4 mods?

everywherei look there seems to be an inexpensive part to make this tranny better and better ....

.500 bost valve - 10 bucks
corvette servo.... 12 bucks

what else is out there? anyone have a list or anything like that ?

i am going ot get a transgo shift kit monday....not sure if it comes with the .500 valve....some do, some dont....

there used to be a siter dedicated to nothing but 700r4 upgrades starting with the more simple things such as the servo, then goes up from there to *the beast* planetary gear sets and such.....

i REALLY wish i could go WOT in 4th without it downshifting to third.....the best it seems to be able to do is....3/4 throttle before itll kick down....other than that, i dont know of any mod thatll hold 4th no matter what....

700r4 doesnt seem nitrous friendly due this this.....using a WOT switch....makes it impossible to spray after third gear tops out.

shoot me some ideas....... post em or IM me on aim under AspiredTwo

this is a useless question seeing as how i already installed the non o-ring type, but which is better? o-ring im assuming.

i had to drop my pan BACK off today and put on a different pan due to the B&M tranny drain plug decided to leak like a SOB.

so i'll just buy a nice deep chrome tranny pan that holds an additional 2 quarts and has a real drain plug.

Here is a list of what I did.
I am thinking about the B4C mod next.

Probuilt,
Does this actually allow WOT 3-4 shift?

I have actually done a few, I learned by reading up on it and by just getting my hands dirty. If you ever get the bug to do it I would recomend buying a good manual and researching into it. One thing that always kind of helped me was a coment someone made to me,
"no matter how much you think you messed it up it is always fixable."
Sometimes the fixable part ends up costing some money but I guess at least you learned something. I have made many mistakes along the way but I learn from them.

That is what I thought till I did it, it was a cake walk.

I upgraded to an Art Carr hardened input shaft with drum installed, Art Carr hardened stator support, and their "Beast Shell" that is hardened and comes with a torington bearing. I also installed the B4C kit from GM, a new TV sleeve that calls for a 90% throttle before downshift, a 5 pinion rear planet, Corvette servo, .500 boost valve, TCI racing overhaul, and topped it off with a B&M shift kit (The B&M shift kit is like a rotten cherry on top of an ice cream sundae compaired to a Tranzgo kit). I also had to rewire the Lock up since I no longer use the ecm.

I do wish that I had upgraded from the 10 vane pump to the 13, and installed the 5 gear front plannet too.

If you really are interested in rebuilding one, get a 700R4 from the bone yard and try it.

But first get an ASTG manual for the 700R4 and read through it a few times. I had to make a press to get the servo out, and the press ended up working to take the rest of it apart also. Worked pretty slick, it was like a giant C-clamp.

PS. The ASTG book shows where all the check ***** go.

ATSG..

Automatic Transmission Service Group... GREAT manuals.. Get the blue one and the green one (the green one covers all of the updates that were performed along the years to the 700R4, the blue one gives you everything else)..
