There's only one "Shift Kit", since the term itself is a trademark of TransGo.

i HATE people who reply with NO HELP..

k so , shift kits are supposedly easy to install.....i disagree with this....i pulled a valve body off my old tranny and about 8 check ***** fell out .....no clue where they go, .....i highly suggest you just pay someone the 120 to install it.....save yourself getting SERIOUSLY dirty....and slinging 80 tools across the yard.

*shift kit* brands...

TransGo
B&m
Superior

most people swear by transgo.......same one i will be getting

when you buy a "shift kit" sorry for not labling right, you are really just buying instructions, and a couple of ball-bearings. What you really are doing is drilling a couple of holes bigger, and an closing some off. It is not that hard if you can rise your car up high enough, you have the right tools, and if you don't mind getting dirty. They are not that much, and if you can't install it you can always tow it to a shop and they can do it for you.

*then go elsewhere* how about not posting non useful info and being helpful and polite.....

ANYWAYS.....the problem with that is, after you spend all the tiem , effort, towing fee......coulda just had it done and stayed clean.

i always , and i mean ALWAYS, hate any tranny work. everything *easy* tranny related, turns out to be a huge mess for me, ONLY on my car....when i do mods on other peoples cars.....it tends to go 100 times more smoothly.....could be the fact that i dont DARE try to do something on someone elses car that i havent already succeded in doing to mine.

honestly, for the money.....get a corvette servo...not TOO bad to install....not horribly messy. servo runs about 12 dollars .....next to that you can go a little more in depth and installa .500 boost valve....i JUST got done doing that to my car......project went bad as planned due to the fact that *someone* gave me the wrong boost valve to begin with and the sucker got wedged in the tranny and it took 3 hours to get it out.....made up a few curse words, threw a lot of tools......almost destroyed a tranny with 1000 miles on it.....but in the end....i can be cruising in second gear, tap the gas, and bark the tires.

after that, you can shoot for a shift kit install once you get the feel for tranny parts .......im pretty satified with my tranny with just the servo and .500 valve alone....next ill shoot for the part throttle 3-4 downshift correct.....but you have to remove the valve body for that.....and i definatly dont want to do that....this comes froma guy who read 1 article on how to install gears, ripped my rear end off, rebuilt my rear and had no problems at all, yet i STILL fear the valve body.

MOST things you need to try to do yourself or you will end up shelling out 600 bucks in labor and 200 in parts in the long run, and for 300 more you could just buy a tranny already built.....and will be better than a midly moded one with these mods listed....

it just relys upon you rmechanical ability and the size of your wallet.....

feel free to IM me if you have anyquestions on AIM: AspiredTwo

Maybe you didn't read the part where he asked if anyone could name any shift kits. Seems to me a direct answer to his post is pretty helpful. Dont worry though, once you've been here longer than a few days you'll be better able to judge what the board standards of helpfulness and politeness are.

heh, i have been a part of this board for the past 4, almost 5 years. there you go assuming you know things. anyways, DONT clog the board with your lack of witt and ability to help people.

he incorrectly worded a part description, big deal, no need to throw your arrogance around and go *oh hohoho!!! only trango makes a shift kit!!"

im positive he ment *shift improver* , so i listed a few that he could research. go bully people around on yahoo or something, dont come here and be less than useful

CLOSE THE THREAD!!! QUESTION ANSWERED!!!!

as i stated on other posts, Questions? Comments? IM me on AIM, dont clog the board!.
