So are us guys with newer cars screwed?
I've done an extensive search, but returned with little. Therefore I bow to the transmission gurus for assistance. :hail:
I am building a carbed 383 right now for my 1992 RS. The 92 is currently equipt with a 305 TBI and a shift-kitted 700R4. My power goals for the new motor are between 400-500 NA horsepower.
1) Will I be alright swaping out my 700R4 with a TH-350? If later on down the road I decide that I want to throw a 100 shot on it for kicks, is it do-able? (I honestly could care less about N20, i'm just curious)
2) The only thing really scaring me about this whole swap is my gauge cluster. All the 1992's have electronically controlled gauges (correct me if i'm wrong) so what do I do when I put in the new trans? What are my options?
While we're on the topic, what do I do about the tach?

Also, the fact that you're changing from TBI to carb, your "SES" light will come on.
The whole purpose of the computer is to regulate the amout of fuel going into the engine. (richer, or leaner) So if you go up or down in altitute, or your carb isn't perfectly calibrated to where you live, your O2 sensor will see a rich, (or lean) condition, and try to adjust by leaning (or enrichening) at the injectors. But if there are no injectors, and the mixture doesn't change, then the computer will throw a code. Then you'll have an "SES" light. It won't matter if you pull the bulb, until the smog police come after you.
