I remember reading someone running 315's on 17x11 rims in the rears, but he had to roll the fender.

255 is the widest on an 8" rim.
Unless you want that old school bulgy look, you could fit 275 ..

I saw a guy at the autocross last week with 265-45-16 on the stock iroc rims, but they are khumo sticky autocross tires and not regulare street tires.

I have 225/50/16 on my car. The front rims do have an offset though. Or they may be 235/50/16.. I am not 100% sure and it's to cold to go look right now.

on a 17x8" wheel or what? so I should be able to run a 265, or perhaps a 285 on a 16x8 if I want....or should i go with a 255 to be on the safe side....what does that do to your tire if you use too big of one and it bulges out?

17x9.5, I think the widest you can go on a 8 inch rim is 265, safely. My brother is running 265 on an 18x8, but not a third gen though

I don't know the dude with the 265-45-16's that was at the autocross, but he was running that same size tire on all 4 stock iroc rims and was running good. They look stock if you don't look at the size on the tires.

It looks like they are all non-street tires in the size.
