Are you using auto tranny fluid in this T-5? You should be.
Try changing the fluid, maybe it's thickened up from being old and dirty. Other than that, you might have some badly worn synchros....

Id let your car warm up for a min or two before you take off. If ya got thick [butt] 80-90 it needs a min to get the thick honey moving and it won't want to shift or go in gear as easy warm.
Just hold the rpms around 2000+ for a min n netural. that will get the goo moving.

You use auto tranny fluid because that's what GM says to use in the WC T-5 trannies. Have you put in something else?

give this a shot, it worked for me
next time it gives you a hard time going into first, try pumping your clutch a couple of times, then try it. My dad's 91 t/a sometimes has that problem, and this method seems to take care of it.
