help a n00b out please
I have a fairly urgent problem. When, from a complete stop, I give it about half throttle i hear a clunking noise for about 2 or 3 seconds, that seems to come from the right rear. I am not sure what this is, whether it is the transmission or something else.
It feels almost the same as running over roadkill or perhaps something like a rock is hitting the underbody. It only occurs from complete stops (as in 1st or so) so I would appreciate any help any one can offer on the subject.
Thank you in advance.
BTW I have a 92 RS w/ a 305 TBI and the 700R4
Edit: I have about 105k on the tranny and it has been shifting fine...even when i engine brake, etc. with the auto shifter.

Thank you for the quick response.
If it isn't too much trouble, could someone please tell me the whereabouts of the transmission mount and how to replace it or at least how much the cost/time would be to replace?

the transmission mount is located right above the crossmember under the tailshaft of the transmission you cant miss it if you look under the car and look up at the bottom of the transmission tailshaft it will be a rubber block with a bolt going thru it to the crossmember and a nut on the end of it the mount its self is held on with two bolts onto the transmission ...its easy to replace with just hand tools and a jack price for one is about 10 bucks to do yourself
or around $50+ at a shop

I tried to move the rubber stop and it wouldnt budge and the bolt connected to the crossmember didnt budge either so they aren't loose.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you're saying. How would I know if it is bad? It seemed pretty solid and firm to me? and would it make a clunking noise near my right rear tire if this was it?
Sorry I don't know much about this DIY fixing stuff. Please do enlighten me.
I hope it is this tranny mount and not something else. What else would it possibly be?
