clunking

ya...i prolly ****ed my tranny trying to make it manual but ill go ahead and explain my situation

From a stop hard acceration it clunks then may clunk into 2nd sometimes i get a few clunks...under normal acceration i get no clunks. and by clunking i mean just a loud noise and u can feel it a little.

I mean from a stop if i half throttle it i get a loud clunk it sounds so bad...

Im guessing i ****ed it up manually shifting it cause i hate automatics so much and this car is boring letting it sit in drive.

Is my 700R4 done with, can anyone tell me whats up? even though this is a hard question i think...

Im really not looking at this in a bad way because i want an excuse to drop a T56 in cause i SO hate autos.

btw- fluid is red and full

You'd be suprised how many people ask this. I even asked it once. Tons of ppl said broke mount. I jacked up the car, took the mount out, looked at it, wondered why it was so weirdly shaped, looked at the trans, took off the other half of the mount, replaced it with a new one, problem solved.

My mistake was that I just used another rubber one. People told me not to, but I did. Now I need to replace it again. My advice is get a poly mount. Save you the trouble of having to replace it again.

Very easy to do, one mount, mount runs about 20 bucks i think for a poly one, if i recall corectly, undo the bolt from the mount to the crossmember, and slightly jack the trans up and take the other 2 out and replace.

There is just one mount. It goes from the crossmember to the trans. Put a piece of wood (like 2x4) between a jack and the trans pan. Undo the bolt going from the mount to the crossmember, then jack up the trans, then undo the 2 bolts going from the mount to the trans, pull it out, put the new one in, blamo. Done. Not at all hard. I think this mount is what you want. It's the one I intend to order in a while. http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...00537&view=257

wow thanks alot guys for the fast responses and help...i was just checking classic industries and there poly mount goes for 29.95 so summit definently sounds like a better deal.

and just just outta curiousity going a long time with broken tranny mount can lead to lots worse problems right? i noticed this about a week ago and have been being to hard on it lately(i cant help myself)...i thought it was a good time to ask what the hell i did to the car lol.

i want a T56

Your torque arm puts most of its stress there, so it could cause traction problems and eventually cause the trans case to break at the tail or the bellhousing.

I drove around with mine like that for a week or so. Never gave me too much problems unless I spun the tires. I knew exactly what I had to do, but I couldnt get access to the school shop for a bit, so i just had to make do. I just made sure I didnt get on it too hard, and it didnt thump too much. I dont know if you damaged anything, but I would say probably not. Oh and I forgot to mention, you will probably need an impact wrench to get the bolts off. I did.

And while I'm at it.. I have always been a stickshift guy. But when I set out to buy another Fbody, I decided to go auto. This was because they can get better launches, and shift faster. Not to mention that dog-low first gear. I like my 700R4. I intend for my white car to see the strip later on, and further down the road it will be retired from it's daily-driver status and become my weekend toy. So after long deliberation, I got an auto. I have found that if you know what you're doing, it can be just as fun. I love barking the tires on the 1-2, and the launches are just amazing. Hey, I still have my '87 to play with, and it's a stick.
