Lock up converter????

Lock up converter????
Ive been reading and was wonder what is the difference between a lock-up converter trans and nonlock-up ( both of which ive seen in Jegs for the 700R4). My question is because i have an 88( i think) or so 700R4 in my car( '91) the ECM in the car is useless and i notice no difference in the car with/ or without it plugged in...
if my car does have a lockup converter what difference should i notice with the ECM disconected

well seeing as how your cars TPS isnt hooked up anymore and for a bunch of other reasons like various sensors and such being gone it wont do anything to lock your converter up. Some say it heats up the trans too much and shortens its life which is logical since there it slippage in it during highway driving where as with it working it would be a direct drive into the trans itself and get better milage and a better transfer of power. if it were me Id invest in a lock up kit from Jegs or Sumit to lock it up without the ECM.

nah ima wait till this trans drops and do a manual swap. i was just wondering
