slave cylinder question
i think my slave unit is bad i was reinstalling it and it worked fine for about 15 min while i was playing with the clutch pedal and then all of a sudden it just went strait to the floor underneath where the pivot ball goes to the fork in that boot out comes clear oil. i dont know where this is coming from. when i push the pedal i can see little bubbles in the line filled with red fluid. is my whole slave unit bad or what can be the problem.
thanks

Sounds like the slave blew out. Mine did the same thing the day I got my new motor in. O'Rilleys (spelling?) has a nice piece that has an aluminum body. It's made by Brake Best. My clutch feel was much better with it that a plastic one. Price is good too at $40.00.

O'Rilleys is like a Kragens Shucks type place. I didn't know if there was one in your area or not. I'd call around and see if anyone local carries Brake Best parts.

Mine blew out when my helper pushed the clutch pedal with the slave off of the shift fork
. I got the aluminum body one from advance auto for $55. Pedal feels great! Another good thing about it is that it has a nice bleeder screw to gravity bleed the line. Much better than the piece of crap bleeder on the stock slave.

I forgot to mention the actual bleeder screw. Hook up the line and it holds it at a near perfect 45* angle by-itself. I gravity bleed it and that was it, it worked perfectly.
I bought one at Advance a couple years ago, all they had then was the plastic body ones. Nice to see there is another place to get one.
BTW, The one I got from O'Rilleys had a lifetime warrenty. Does the Advance one have that too?

yeah, lifetime replacement warranty on the aluminum one from advance.
Best way to bleed the hydros: Gravity bleed the line with the bleeder screw, then with the cap off of the reservoir and the slave unbolted from the bellhousing, push the rod in slowly. This will push out all the air bubbles through the line and out of the reservoir.

nasty why leave it unbolted to the bellhousing. its a pain to put it back in as you have to collapse it by hand to fit it in the fork and cover. also napa wants 61.00 kragens 54.00 and monument which is just like napa for 44.00 so im gonna go with the monument one dont know if its metal or not.
i hope it is
