how much fluid to put in the converter

I was wondering how much fluid you need to put into an empty torque converter. I already put a quart in and it looks like it needs more. The converter goes on a 700R4.
Thanks,
Matt

As much as it will hold, until it spills out when you pick it up and hold it in the position it goes in right before you slip it into the transmission.

I think you'll find that about 2½ will go in there. Maybe more or maybe less depending on what's been done to it.

It doesn't much matter though; the pump will fill it up pretty soonly after you start up the engine. All you need to do is make sure it isn't dry.
