S10 Blazer torque converter? question
I've been told that the torque converters in the s10 blazers w/ the 4l60 is like a 2500 stall, which would be a good way for me to save $$$......
Should I go this route? are torque converters something that "wear out" over time or what?
Thanks,
-Chris

The converter that came stock behind the 4.3 V6 is a good cheap mod if your tranny is out anyway. I don't know about 2500rpm, but they are built a little looser due to the lower torque of the V6 and therefore stall higher than the stock F-body converter.
You can get a new stock-replacement for an S10 for like $125.....they can be even cheaper if you trust one from a junkyard.
They don't really wear out, but if you get one that's full of dirt or corrosion it's going to eat the rest of your tranny alive. I'd stick with a new one or maybe a used one that has NOT been sitting out in the rain (i.e. out of a truck wrecked last week.)

On my 383 I installed a 95 S-10 4.3L and it stalls around 2200 with my combo. Very good bang for the buck esp when you can get sometimes a new one from the dealer at 190. I got mine from Van Devere Olds in Akron Ohio.
What yr model(s) of an S-10 torque converter should i look for? Tranny is 89 700r4 & L98 engine. Also will the S-10 torque converter have the correct number of splines? Thanks in advance.
