Th700R4 problems.

Hi!
I have swapped out my old transmission becouse it had no D and OD after a burnout and the rebuilt one comes from a 88 iroc.
Now i cant get any gear in at all, when i roll the wheels i hear a ticking sound like it not attached to the axel or something.
I gyess i have to take it down again.
My question was are the TH700R4 all the same exept for the elektric speedeo?
Thanks for any replay.

I take the gearbox down today and foud out that the driveaxel are a little bit smaller on the 88 gearbox than the 92.So i need to change the stallconverter. The only good about it is that i now can take it down and back in 1 and a half our.
I am going to give the transmisionshop a call and maybe they can swap the axel to fit my 88 gearbox so that i can use the stallconverter in that.

700r4's made before mid 84 were 27 spline input shafts. Later models are 30 spline. Torque converters are harder to find for the 27 spline.

The 1988-1992 are very similar, and both are a good start to build from. By the way, they all have 30 spline input shafts.

Ok!
The guy that sold me the transmission now say that it is a 87 and not a 88,but i still belive its an older model becouse it has the 3mm smaller axel, its about 22mm and my are 25mm.
Thanks!

The 1987 is still a 30 spline, unless someone has changed the input shaft (to an earlier one), on a rebuild.
