The site indicates that only the Eaton Locker would be difficult to rebuild as when it blows, it destroys other parts of the axle. As long as you were doing a full rear axle rebuild involving replacing all bearings, seals, clutch packs, gears, etc...it should be OK as long as any damaged parts were replaced. That may become financially unrewarding if new units are available for less than the rebuild cost -- but I'm not sure if they are.
Of course, if the unti did not blow while in YOUR rear end, then you could be fine as the metal particles which destroy everything would have killed the rear the unit was pulled from. I'd recommend pulling the clutch pack to see if it has metal shavings all over as these will screw with any rear you place the eaton into.

There were a couple of "factory" posi units used back then. The "factory" didn't make either of them.
One was the Eaton Gov-Lock. There's no sense in "rebuilding" one of those.
The other was an Auburn. You can download a whole manual from their site www.auburngear.com but there's no parts available for it.

is there a posi worth rebuiding? serisously.... since i know my auburn is only gonna last so long, and when it goes, it's done, what can i buy that's rebuidable, and worth rebuiding in the process? when i say rebuidable, i mean replace the clutch pack(s), springs, and gears? i was thinking about a detroit unit of some kind, or an Eaton, but not a factory piece. I'd always heard the eatons were good posi's worth keeping around.
