Transmission: 700r4??
10 bolt

im thinking of getting a 10 bolt out of a 85 z28 and i was wondering how much power can that rearend handle. ill be using the car as a daily driver and only pushing the rearend when someone feals like racing me.

I know a guy that runs 11.11s for 2 seasons straight on slicks with a 10 bolt.

You should be fine.

With a 305 TBI, You should not be worrying about the 10- -bolt breaking. Unless you are really a abusive driver.

It can handle a lot more than your 305 can dish out. I'd have it freshened up by a reputable shop, new Timken bearings all around, etc.

how long will my 10-bolt hold up behind a mild 383 stroker?

Depends on your tranny and what tires you run.

If you run an auto on street tires it will last for a long time. Spinning won't destroy them like hooking up will. Manual transmissions tend to destroy them much quicker to.

damn, cuz i'm expecting to hook up pretty well. i'm running a Turbo 400 with a shift kit and the tires are 285/65/15 Hoosiers. they are pretty much a really soft street legal racing tire....

well im getting a 350 to put in there thats why im thinking about getting the 10 bolt. im prob. going to build the engine for 400 hp. will the 10 bolt support that or will i need to build it up.
