Got my B&M Detent Plate

Going to install it tonight. What a great idea, had a heck of a time getting it, as it has been on back order and nobody lists it.

Can't wait to bang the gears with my stock shifter!

Hey some pics and a review would be nice. I was thinking about doing the same thing to my GTA. I really like the stock leather T handle and do not want ot give it up.

It is very simple. Anyone with some basic tooling could cut it out. They do include a nice soild steel rod to replace the stock plastic detent rod in the shifter.

I will install it this weekend, but it will be a month of so before I can do any real world testing on it.

Got it installed. It was very simple and straight forward.

The instructions were complete and explained it all.

I have not road tested it, but putting it trough the gears in the garage, it seems to be real nice.

Can't wait to test it on the street.

Part number?

Just thought I would ask since you might have it handy. Also, how does it work for you on the street? I'm rebuilding my stock shifter and wouldn't mind a more positive feel. TIA.

What's the part number?

I knew there was a Mustang product like that but not one for our cars. Is it a fairly new item?

Here is the link to the B&M website for this part. I am planning to order it through Summit.

86_Dan_Z28, thanks for the link. After my post, I had tried to browse for it on Summit racing's site with no luck. I also searched www.bmracing.com and could not find it.

If the install is as straight forward as Johnny Blaze says, then I might have to buy one. $35 is not a bad price, although as mentioned before the plate is on backorder for 2 more weeks.

Put mine in last week, had been on back order for 2 months.
Great piece! My have to elongate holes for perfect gear alignment..

Also put rear on jack stands and run through gears at idle or low steady rpm and watch speedo... First shift slow and then bang them..
Thought mine was alligned perfect, installed hours before going to track - shifted great when shifting normal, Got to track hit into third kinda hard and went straight to overdrive.. Made some adjustment and went through gears several times hitting soft and hard till was perfect.... Just a little warning.
Also the new detent rod they supply - mine would jam after hitting button, noticed stock piece was rounded on top and new was straight cut.. Hit the edges with grinder real quick and problem gone.

this looks pretty cool, since i sent her BM shifter back, just didn't want to get that involved in doing a shifter and console work.

would anyone happen to have photos of the install process?
was it really that easy?
i don't believe install instructions as far as time, usually multiply the time it says by 10

To install it I believe that you have to grind off the rivets that hold the stock plate in place and attach the new piece with some nuts and bolts. I don't think it is real difficult.

Not hard, you can do it in 1/2 hour easily.
