4th gear shift mod

I've seen this before (maybe someone can poin me to the discussion/sticky) but what is the mod that needs to be done so that the my 700-R4 will shift into 4th gear w/o removing my foot from the pedal?....i will hopefully be putting in a shift kit this summer and maybe i can do that mod at the same time....thanks

I think you need to purchase two valves. B&M makes a modified upshift valve, which does what you want; I think. There is also something else but I can't remember what it is.

I know they used to make a valve for B4C F-bodies to allow officers more throttle in 4th gear, but I'm not sure if that removed the 4-3 downshift at WOT.

Its been thrown back and forth, do a search of some old posts. At one point I remember someone stating that no valve could cause the transmission to shift into 4th gear at WOT. But there was a valve that could let you maintain about 90% throttle.

Its all in the old stuff and its been a long time since I've read any of it.

why do you suppose GM designed the car so that it wouldn't shift into 4th geat at WOT ?...it doesn't seem like a good design

Two reasons I can think of off the top of my head..

One, the 700r4 doesn't deal very well with lots of torque in 4th gear very well. I'm assuming it was built that way to prevent people from burning up the transmission by going WOT in 4th gear.

Two? I think speed could have had something to do with the design. No 4th geat at WOT would keep the speeds down because you have to let off the gas.

The Corvette 700R4 has the WOT shift into 4th in most cases. You can do this by installing 2 allens screws into the 4-3 passages in the plunger sleeve. This will give you a WOT 4th in the majority of cases.

Damn dana, since I don't have a schematic of the flow care to post one or a picture?

I'd do this tomorow if I knew exactly where to place the screws!
