It will bolt up and work. How long it takes the new power is another question.

It will NOT bolt up.

The 2.8 V6 is a member of the 60 degree engine family, it has a different bellhousing shape and bolt pattern than the 90 degree engine family, which includes the small block chevy, and the 4.3l v6.

You will need a tranny from a V8. A stock 700R4 will not last very long behind that engine, esp. if you get the car to hook.

basically, your tranny that was on you 2.8 will not work. you will need a 700r4 from a v-8 engine. the th400 however will work just fine. you just need to get the proper parts for it (transmission xmember, driveshaft. the bracket so you can mount the torque arm to the th400 ect....
