is the trans going to die on me

i have searched my question for about 2 hours now. i have seen a few people have posted this question but havent gotten any answers. I hope this might be a little different

I have a 91 305 t-5. When im in 3,4 or 5th gear and i hit the gas my engine starts to rev very high but doesnt really go anywhere at all. Also when i am going from 1rst to Reverse i get some grinding noise. Does this mean the transmission is going bad or is it just the clutch. I have to let the clutch pedal out very far before the car starts to go, like the last inch it starts to engage. Help me out please.

also if it is the clutch what clutch would be good to replace it with

I am gonna jump on the "you should probably replace your clutch" band wagon. It sounds like it is on it last leg. I will let someone else chimeinon what type to install though. I like centerforce myself. Good luck with your swap!

Re: is the trans going to die on me

it's probablt the clutch....sound is probably the pressure plate grinding on the bare rivits of the friction material! with a stock 305...you're best with a stock replacement.

also the t5 reverse gear does not have a synchro. Any movement will result in grinding.
