narrowed 9"

i have come across a narrowed 9 inch rear, does anyone know how narrow you can go before you have to tub?

current 10 bolt measures 55 inces from backing plate to backing plate. 9" measures 47 inches from backing plate to backing plate. I am getting this for next to nothing and would really like to be able to use it. I measured the furthest end of the spring perches on 10 bolt and it measures 49 inches. Will this also be a problem or can you buy a spring perch kit that is shorter than factory?

Depends on your wheel backspacing but factory wheels and tires could probably have a diff narrowed about 2" on each side. There's very little room on a third gen between the tires and the frame/inner fender to narrow a diff and shorter than a factory diff. There is no real "tubbing" on a third gen The inner fender is already right at the frame rail, if you could call it that.
