Im leaking tranny fluid pretty bad and I dont know where the heck its coming from.My buddy and I took off the plastic shield thingy and its dry in there so its not the front main seal .
The drve shaft is dry and everything around it.So dont think its the rear seal.We also checked all the connections for the trans cooler lines and there all good on the tranny side and the radaiator side,no signs of fluid leaking.Im leaking fluid but dont know from where Can anyone help me diagnose(sp) this problem.thanks

Oh yeah, when I take the S/E for a spin a lot of smoke comes up from under the car on the passenger side near the cat.And it smells like burnt tranny fluid for sure..........

Your positive that its tranny fluid and not oil ? what color is it. Also keep in mind while your driving wind blows, so it could be flying onto your cat.

its possible the lines cracked or has a hole, i suggest cleaning up all around that area, and try to see if you can catch the leak where its starting

i dont know if you have found the leak or not, or if your TH200C is an automatic or a manual trans (i dont know much about trans, mainly engines) but i have a 700R4 and when i swapped my old one for one that was supposedly in better condition i had to change out the down shift cable. once i got it in i found out the trans was leaking pretty bad. it was leaking at the base of that cable where it bolds onto the trans. i couldnt tell at first cause the fluid would run down all around the edges of the pan and i assumed it was the pan until i wipped all the edges of the pan...then i saw what spot on the edge the fluid was flowing over, then i reached up and felt the area that was wet. it was the base of the down shift cable. plus when i drive it (which i dont anymore until i get it fixed) the fluid would drip onto the exhaust pipe and burn off. it smoked pretty bad at a stop light but once i drove you couldnt see any. so if your TH200C is an automatic then this is a good thing to check for. but if its not then i'm sorry for waisting your time. atleast you know of this situation for future reference

Its not under pressure, but it can come loose. Just throwing out simple suggestions before he has to go to deep.

I would check around the crossmember under the engine.. I changed out my tranny and when i put it back in i replaced the lower line. only to find out that the upper line right at the crossmember under the engine has developed a small hole.. which leaked tranny fluid like there was no tommorrow.. and the hole was dinky, not even realy seeable with the eye...

Clean the whole thing so it's dry. Then look for a leak. Should be easy to spot. If you still can't find it then start the car for a while and look again. Don't drive it cause the wind will blow it around. You should be able to pinpoint it then.

yep. shouldn't take to much effort to find it.. run the car.. the one by the crossmember ran down and then onto the exaust pipe at the bend.. so it if was leaking and you were driving it could very well have traveled to the cat...

tranny leak
Also check your cooler line fittings at the trans around the flair on the line. Have found a few that was cracked. If you can support the car from the rear and clean fluid off have friend or someone (i have my wife) inside running through the gears and should see it right away. Good luck and above all be careful.
