700R4 Question

Hi Guys,

I live in the UK and have just bought a '87 IROC 350 tpi - my first Chevy!

My question is about the o/d, driving the car on the highway at about 70 mph the o/d wasn't cutting in. I tried a few times to back off on the accelerator and that didn't work. To prove it wasn't working I shifted from 'O' to 'D' and there was no change in revs.

My first question is when (what speed) does the o/d come in?
(I'm running standard gears)?

If my o/d isn't working what do I start looking for to trace the problems?

If any of your replies use abbreviations or acronyms please tell me what they are!!

Regards
Nick

Nick:

Classic problem with these trans, and I have had first hand experience the "top end" shifting (or lack of)

You'd have to rebuild or replace to take care of it, in my opinion.

I babied mine for 30,000 miles and it just blew today!!!
