why in gods name would you want to switch from your 5 spd to a 4 spd auto (if you are going to a 700r4) most go the other way... Pretty much to go reverse you need a new brake pedal assembly, and a new cross member... you would also need the bracket for the TV cable..... also the console shift plate for it.. and also figure out a way to mount the shifter in place (since there is a hole in the floor where the shifter would normall set..)

If you want to go fast in the 1/4 mile you go with an Auto and a nice stall.
I went from Auto to 5 speed on my car since I like to be in control.

doing the swap, you will need to wire up the 4pin connector for the Lock-up Solenoid, cover the shifter hole, change pedals if you want to, get a flexplate, get lines for the trans cooler lines, etc...

Makes it easier if you have a donor car that you can get all the parts off of.

eh i dunno.. I can sift it fast enough to where it feels like i am in an auto.. but I get to shift it up higher in the power band and keep power better on the stick..

doesn't matter how fast you can shift, if you don't know the benefits of an auto and a high stall, then you don't know drag racing.

Auto might be good for drag but I think standard could still be quicker

I am not going to argue about it, but do some research on auto vs manual relating to drag racing.

I had the same question, only I want to go from a 4 spd manual to a TH-350 for my 4 banger Firebird. I just want it for convenience, plus I think my tranny might be shot. My car is a daily driver that I'll use as a backup to my '04 Hyundai.

Shoot Brutalform a pm. We did a 700r4 conversion in the spring. He can tell you everything involved. His car runs quicker and also more consistant in the 1/4 mile with the 700 r4
