TH-350 swap
Alright I've been considering swapping a TH-700R4 into my 1982 Camaro Z28. Pretty much know all of the things needed for that.. But I was wondering what would be needed to swap out the TH-200C for a TH-350C? Would it be a direct replacement? Or would it require different driveshaft, crossmember, etc.. like the 700R4 swap? Also I've already got a couple 700R4 cores that I can grab the torqe arm tail housing off of.
Thanks

th350 swap
Not sure about the 200 r4, But I own a 84 ta and swapped a 350 for the 700 and other than changing the tail shaft housing from 700 it was a easy swap. Also some 350 tail housings have the bolt flange for the torque arm.

I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe the 200 and the 350 are direct swaps. Maybe someone else can confirm this.
I'd go with the 700-R4 personally. Better mileage and longer engine life due to reduced engine wear thanks to the overdrive.

I believe the drive shaft is a different size. I'm pretty sure that's what I found out when I was looking into buying an older S-10 a year or so ago.

Finally found some time to do some extensive research and this is what I've found for those with the same questions I had:
The TH-350 with the 6" tail shaft housing (stock 700R4 housing with torque arm bracket) is 5/8" shorter in overall length than the TH-200. BUT the trans mount is located in the exact same location on both. So the original cross member can be used. So I guess since the housing is 5/8" shorter a different driveshaft would be needed.

I think people with the 200 can do a direct swap w/ the short tail th350 except for the torque arm attachment. Neither the short or long tail th350's have a torque arm attachment, you need to get the conversion kit from B&M or Hurst. I've heard the 200 driveshaft will work with the short tail th350, and the 200 crossmember will also work. But I haven't been able to verify this myself. The 700r4 driveshaft will work with the long tail th350, or the short tail th350 that has been converted to the 700r4 tailshaft. If you do the 700r4 tail conversion then you dont need a torque arm kit. I used a 70's something long tail th350 from a truck, stock 700r4 driveshaft, Spohn crossmember, and the Hurst conversion kit into my 89 IROC-Z. That Hurst kit sucked, didnt fit and they didnt give me the crossmember adapters (which is why I bought the Spohn one). Maybe you'll have better luck, there are three different styles of torque arm brackets on the tranny end throughout the 82-92, I just happened to have the style that didnt work with this kit. But a drill fixed that. Good luck on the swap, have fun doing alot of these with no worries:
