Camaro 1968 4 speed tranny

do i need to have a different driveshaft or crossmember, will the tranny fit the tunnel without major modification to the body ?

for the linkage, i can work something out, i'm a machinist.

why woukd you want to when there are so many better trans that aren't near 40 years old? DS is easy to change, why worry about a minor detail? cross memeber most likely needs changed or modified. torque arm would need to be considered.

I'm thinking going this route since the tranny is only 200$... i was under the impression that these transmission are very tuff.

Car: 2000 BMW M5
Is it a muncie, borg T-10, or a saginaw? If it is a saginaw pass, they are the worst -- I have personally grenaded 5 of them behind a 350 nova and 327 camaro. They will not last no matter what (unless you either don't drive the car much or never ever drive hard, then what is the point of having a 4 speed anyway?). If its a muncie or borg T10 it is a sturdy, although crude transmission. They shift like crap compared to what you would expect a modern transmission to do. I am selling an immaculate, completely rebuilt Muncie M20 that I was running in my Camaro until I got the world class T5 done. The old 4 speeds have external shift linkage, which even when tight and set up properly is very clunky and cumbersome in comparison to a modern internal rail-shifted setup. Plus no o/d from a 4 speed means no high speed cruising -- I had enough of that. Plus like the guys said, what on earth are you going to do about a torque arm? The driveshaft for a 700r4 is shorter than you need for the 4 speed.

The Jegster torque arm solves that problem... it bolts to the body instead of the trans.
