Transmission Speedo Drive Gear

The trans is in my car now and makes it a little difficult to check now. Can anyone tell me how many tooth this drive gear is? I was told by Tremec that it is a 10 tooth drive but now I have reason to suspect that it isnt. I know you cant see all of the teeth in the picture but maybe someone can tell me based on the color?

Based on the color it's a 20 tooth driven gear.

Although that link is very informative it doesnt really help me. I have a manual tranny, i guess I should have specified that in the first post.

Because colour varies over the years, it is not reliable.

Stick a sharpie in there, dot one of the teeth, have the trans. in neutral and count teeth.

Thanks but like I said it is in the car now and makes things difficult to look in there. Also you cant see the whole gear even when you can see in, I had to take several pictures just to get one that you could even see the gear at all. Actually my problem is greater than the tooth count. This is supposedly the same trans as the one Steve Spohn sells. I got it before he started selling them though. It came with a electronic VSS but I cant find a gear to go on it. Nothing I have purchased fits properly. One of them fits but it is very lose and would fall off if I were to put it in the tailshaft. At this point I dont even care what the tooth count is for either the drive or driven gear. I would just buy an Autometer speedometer and just calibrate it to what ever is in there. It has been 5 years of searching and I still havent been able to come up with anything. I guess I try and call Steve and see if he can help me out.

If it's the aftermarket Borg Warner / Tremec T56, I can get you the right gears, but I'll need some info from you; sending PM.

that is the eternal gear right? i would think all would be the same since the main gear that is changed for speedo correction is on the cable itself! i had a t-5 and am now installing a tremec 3550 but all i'll do is get the corresponding cable gear to correct the speedometer. if tremec says that it is a 10 i would have to believe them. do you have a cable or is your speedo electronic?

I was under the idea that trans used the same gears the t5 and well most of the gm mauals used. did you ask spohn? as the others have said I would more than likely go with what tremic told you.

and do you have a picture of the sending unit you removed? I maybe no help on this but, the more info you provide the better your chances some one here that has been there will jump in and let you know.
